David McDonagh

David McDonagh is the founder and head trainer of FITMAC. A graduate of the University of Limerick with an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise & Fitness, David also holds qualifications from the NCEF (National Council for Exercise & Fitness) and a National Diploma in Personal Training from the NSC (National Sports College).

Born and bred in Galway, David’s passion for health and fitness began when he took up boxing at the age of 11 and continued for 6 years during which he was boxing as a novice, at the age of 17 David joined the Galway City Gym and 32 years later he is still proud to be a member.

David’s personal involvement in training and sport has seen him pick up many awards and medals with a multitude of sports and disciplines. In 2005 he placed second in a novice Powerlifting competition, this was quickly followed up with coming first in the Connacht Juniors for Powerlifting.

Muai Thai, a hard martial art from Thailand, is a discipline that David trained in for 7 years, during this time he fought professionally as well as qualifying in a Muai Thai judging course.

Throughout his training, David has always maintained that a Healthy Diet is one of the most important parts of a training schedule and is proud that his own personal training schedule does not include the use of any supplements. Away from training David loves to spend time with his family.
